Siddhartha Lal is Managing Director & CEO of Eicher Motors Ltd., the flagship listed company of the Eicher Group in India. From July 2008 to July 2010, Siddhartha also took charge as CEO of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a newly formed 50:50 joint venture between Volvo group and Eicher Motors Ltd. (EML). VECV is the third largest Commercial Vehicles’ (CV) player in India and has ambitions to drive modernization in commercial transportation and becoming a leading trucks and buses company in India and emerging world markets. During 2000-2004, in his tenure as CEO of motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield (a division of EML), Siddhartha helped revive the company’s fortunes and also strengthened stakeholders’ involvement with the brand. He holds a Masters degree in Automotive Engineering from University of Leeds and is a Cranfield University qualified mechanical engineer. Siddhartha is also an Economics graduate from St. Stephens College in Delhi and an alumnus of The Doon School. Siddhartha is also passionately involved in the subject of transportation and the role it has to play in sustainability, especially in urban settings; and its role on our health, safety and quality of life. He is now co-championing a Young Global Leader (part of World Economic Forum) initiative ‘Transforming Urban Mobility’. Due to his efforts in this area, he has also been nominated as a part of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council for Transportation. He is also a part of the newly formed Next Generation Leaders Board at Indian School of Business.
Mr. S. Sandilya is the Chairman of the Eicher Group. He is a Commerce Graduate from the Chennai University and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (1969). He started his career in 1969 with DCM group of companies. After a year’s stint with DCM and 5 years with Union Carbide, he joined Eicher in 1975. He started with the tractor business at the Faridabad plant and moved to the Group Headquarters in 1977. In 1982 he took over as the General Manager of the Alwar Division. In 1987, with the first major diversification of the Eicher Group into truck business, Mr. Sandilya moved to Indore as Director - Manufacturing and Operations of Eicher Motors Ltd. and subsequently took over as the Chief Executive and Managing Director. Mr. Sandiliya moved to Eicher Group Headquarters in 1998. In addition to being Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd., he was in charge of Group Finance, Strategic Planning, Audit and Information Technology. He was appointed Vice Chairman of Eicher Group in October 1999 and subsequently Group Chairman and CEO in April 2000. Mr Sandilya is the current President of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), He is a national Council member of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). He is on the board of Directors of Indore Management Association and is also an Executive Committee Member of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers and a Governing Council member of the Automobile Research Association of India. He was the Treasurer of All India Management Association for the period 1998-2000 and is currently a member of its Governing Council.
Mr. M. J. Subbaiah is an Independent and Non-Executive Director w.e.f April 27, 2009 on the board of Eicher Motors Ltd. He is chairman of the Audit Committee of the board. He was a nominee director (independent and non-executive) of ICICI Bank from July, 2002 up to April 27, 2009 on the company`s board. He also served as a nominee director of ICICI Bank on the board of Eicher Ltd., where he was a member of the Audit Committee and Shareholders` and Investors` Grievance Committee. Mr. Subbaiah holds a Master`s degree in economics from the University of Mysore and is a fellow of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He has vast experience of over 30 years in financial services industry. He started his career in State Bank of India and was Dy. General Manager there before moving to Shipping Credit and Investment Corporation of India (SCICI) as Executive Director on the board. SCICI merged with ICICI, where he was Senior General Manager. Mr. Subbaiah is serving as an independent Trustee on L & T Mutual Fund Trustee Company (erstwhile DBS Cholamandalam Trustee Co.). He is an Independent Director on the board of Jaypee Infratech Ltd. and is Chairman of the Audit Committee of that company`s board. Mr. Subbaiah has served as nominee director of ICICI Bank on the boards of Usha Martin Ltd. and Jaiprakash Associates Ltd. where he was a member of the Audit Committee and Chairman of the Compensation Committee.
Mr. Priya Brat is an Independent and Non-Executive Director on the Board of Eicher Motors Ltd. w.e.f. July 23, 2001. Mr. Priya Brat is MSc. (Hons) in Physics from Punjab University, Diploma in Banking, Finance and Accountancy from the Indian Institute of Bankers, Mumbai and Diploma in International Finance from the Development Management Institute, Geneva. Since 1959 he was associated with State Bank of India (SBI) in various capacities and retired as Dy. Managing Director of SBI in 1995. During his tenure with SBI, he also served as Director on the Boards of State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of Indore, State Bank of Mysore, State Bank of Travancore and State Bank of Saurashtra and also on the Boards of MP State Development Corporation, MP State Electronic Development Corporation and OPTEL in Madhya Pradesh. Subsequent to his retirement from SBI, he served as President (Finance) at Indo Rama Synthetics (India) Ltd. (1996-1999). During the year, Mr. Priya Brat served as a Director on the Boards of Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd., Dhanuka Agritech Ltd. and South Asian Enterprises Ltd. He is a member of the Audit Committee and Compensation Committee of Eicher Motors Ltd. (EML) and member of Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee and Shareholders’ and Investors’ Grievance Committees of Dhampur Sugar Mills Ltd. He is also Chairman of the Shareholders’ and Investors’ Grievance Committees of EML and Chairman of Audit Committee and Remuneration Committee of Dhanuka Agritech Ltd. Mr. Priya Brat also served as a Director on the Board of erstwhile Eicher Ltd. (EL), as Chairman of the Shareholders’ and Investors’ Grievance Committees and as a member of the Audit Committees of EL.
Mr. R L Ravichandran is Executive Director of Eicher Motors Ltd. Mr. Ravichandran is graduated from Madras University and holds Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management. He started his career with British Multinational - W&T Averys, world leaders in weighing, counting and testing equipments. Subsequently, he worked with Marketing & Sales of USHA Brand of appliances, with M/s USHA International, Delhi, before joining TVS Suzuki, as their Head of Sales & Marketing for 2-Wheelers in 1990. Up till March 31, 2005, he worked with M/s BAJAJ AUTO LTD, Pune as their V.P - Business Development & Marketing. From 1998 onwards he has played a crucial role in BAJAJ AUTO's transitionary phase from a large "Scooter only" brand - to a multiple, leadership brand of Motorcycles in India as well as International markets. He has a host of successful brands which he has developed into million dollar portfolios in his stint with both TVS and Bajaj, namely, Suzuki SAMURAI, Shogun, Scooty and in his stint with Bajaj Auto, Caliber, Hoodibaba, Boxer, Pulsar, Eliminator, Discover & CT 100. He has also played a key role in creating new, young vibrant face of the "Hamara Bajaj" as it is seen today. Mr. Ravichandran has real time "hands-on" experience in understanding customers brand perceptions and has created some of the outstanding communication tools in mass media. Since 2005, he has taken up the responsibility as CEO of Royal Enfield (RE). Besides being a Bullet-enthusiast and rider himself he has arrived with a dream of making his "First Love" - "The Royal Enfield Bullets" into a multimillion dollar brand from India. In 5 year, Mr. Ravichandran could fulfill his personal and corporate objectives in creating a 360 degree turn around by rewriting the ground rules and also micromanaging RE both in strategic levels and in operations. RE now is in the range of a financial turnover of Rs 500 crores, with a sale of over 50000 units p.a. and with an EBIT of 10% and with a healthy order book and customers accepting a waiting period of 6 months. The company has very silently and successfully managed the transition from 50 years of cast iron bloc engines which had built a rock steady reputation into the new UCE engine in both capacities of 500cc and 350cc and also launched the CLASSICS bikes in the EUROPE and followed in the Domestic markets. From January 2011, he has been elevated to the rank of E.D. and he will also be in the Board of EML with the specific task of guiding RE into the Global Arena in terms of Brand and business strategy.
Mr. Prateek Jalan is a law graduate from Trinity College, University of Cambridge and subsequently he did Master of Laws from the University of Michigan School of Law, Ann Arbor, U.S.A. Since 1994, he has been engaged in law practice at various courts, tribunals and commissions including the Supreme Court of India. Mr. Jalan is professionally associated with Supreme Court Bar Association, New Delhi, Delhi High Court Bar Association, New Delhi and the Bar Library Club, Calcutta High Court. He is also a member of the Oxford and Cambridge Society of India, New Delhi and a fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust, Cambridge. He is serving as a Director on the Board of Eicher Motors Ltd. (EML), VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. and Associated Advisory Services Private Ltd. He is also a member of the Audit Committee of EML.
